SUMMARY:Granville Country Park Ghost Walk
DESCRIPTION:👻 THE LOST MINERS OF GRANVILLE 👻\nSHADOWS BENEATH THE EARTH\nAn Interactive Ghost Walk with The Wright Paranormal Events\n🌑 THE MINES ARE SILENT… BUT THEIR HISTORY IS FAR FROM FORGOTTEN.\nHidden beneath the woodland of Granville Country Park, Muxton, lies a world once filled with darkness, danger and the relentless sounds of heavy machinery.\nFor generations, men descended deep underground, never knowing whether they would return to daylight.\nFor some, that final journey into the darkness would be their last.\n⛏️ THE THREE MEN WHO PLUNGED TO THEIR DEATHS — 1904\nOn 26 April 1904, tragedy struck at Granville Pits.\nThree men were working inside a mine cage when a massive wooden pump rod broke free and fell down the shaft.\nThe falling timber struck the cage, breaking its supporting chains and sending the men plunging to their deaths.\nAll three were killed instantly.\nAn ordinary working day became a tragedy that would never be forgotten.\n⚰️ THE LAST CRIES OF JOHN FENN — 1899\nIn June 1899, 49-year-old miner John Fenn was working underground when part of the roof collapsed.\nA heavy piece of shale pinned him to the ground.\nHis fellow miners heard his desperate cries and rushed to help, struggling to remove the fallen rock.\nBut it was too late.\nJohn Fenn never returned home alive.\n🏚️ THE FORGOTTEN WINDING HOUSE\nDeep within the park stand the remains of Muxton Bridge Colliery’s winding house.\nBuilt in 1884, it once housed powerful steam engines that raised and lowered cages into the mine shafts.\nImagine the thunder of machinery, the rattling of iron chains and the voices of miners preparing to descend.\nToday, the engines are gone.\nThe machinery has fallen silent.\nBut the ruins remain.\n🌲 THE MINERS’ FINAL CHAPTER\nOn 21 May 1979, Granville Colliery finally closed.\nIt marked the end of deep coal mining in Shropshire.\nGenerations of mining history were left behind, and nature slowly reclaimed the industrial landscape.\nTHE MEN HAVE GONE. THE MINES HAVE CLOSED. BUT THE STORIES REMAIN.\n🔦 FOUR LOCATIONS. ONE DARK WALK.\nJoin us as we explore the historic woodland and former mining landscape of Granville Country Park after dark.\nVIGIL 1 — TOP OF THE WORLD\nHigh above the former mining landscape, begin your paranormal investigation and discover the area’s forgotten industrial history.\nVIGIL 2 — THE BARN\nEnter the atmosphere of the old mining landscape and take part in a paranormal vigil surrounded by the darkness.\nVIGIL 3 — THE MINE SHAFT\nNear the remains of the old mining workings, hear the true accounts of those whose lives ended underground.\nVIGIL 4 — THE OLD WINDING HOUSE\nStand near the remains of the machinery that once carried miners deep beneath the earth.\nListen carefully. What will the darkness reveal?\n👻 DARE YOU INVESTIGATE THE LOST MINERS OF GRANVILLE?\nJoin The Wright Paranormal Events for an evening of genuine local history, chilling true stories and interactive paranormal investigations.\n🌙 Night-time interactive ghost walk\n🔦 Four paranormal vigil locations\n🥾 Torches, warm clothing and sturdy footwear essential.\nHealth & Safety ‼️\nThis particular ghost walk we can adapt the schedule to make it suitable for wheelchair users.
